In the 10 years since our Grizzly Bears first migrated from Vancouver, they have been a hunted species. Recently, the Memphis Grizzly even made it on the most endangered species list. Why?
The Grizzly Killer.
Grizzly Killers make Grizzlifers tremble. They have been known to crush dreams, squander playoff aspirations, and send the team to the lottery. While many hunt Grizzlies, I believe that there are a few who stand apart as Grizzly Killers. In the coming weeks, I will seek to make Grizz Nation aware of these savages.
The Grizzlies play the Jazz tonight at home. It will be a tough game I’m sure. But what scares me most is that a Grizzly Killer will be in the building on a mission. That man’s name is Deron Williams.
Let me give you Mr Williams criminal record:
11 straight wins as starting point guard (horrific)
19 points per game
11.5 assists per game
Note: The last time the Grizz beat the Jazz it was January 8 2010 and Mr Williams did not play due to injury. The Grizz scraped by with a two point win.
I wonder what kind of confidence Mr Williams has coming into tonight’s game against the Grizz? The last 11 times he’s gone out for a hunt he’s returned victorious.
Is tonight the night? Let’s be careful. Don’t ever underestimate the Grizzly Killer (see Martin, Kevin). Sure, the Jazz are coming to Memphis on the second night of a back to back. We are 6-0 in these scenarios this season (read this for our theory as to why). And yes, Paul Millsap may be out for tonight’s game. But the Grizzly Killer doesn’t consider these statistics when he enters a Grizz-infested area. He is out for blood.
Tonight may be the night, but something unusual must happen. Perhaps a career high in altered shots for Hasheem Thabeet? Perhaps Tony Allen has another “treat” night? Perhaps a Williams injury?
I don’t have a Crystal Ball so it is hard to tell. But whatever the future holds, we know that a Grizzly Killer is coming tonight.
Get Ready.
I live the Grizzlife and love it,
Paul
