Game 3 Miracle

I still don’t know how it happened. I still can’t believe it. Somehow, the Grizzlies came back from 16 points down in the third quarter to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime 101-93. Forward Zach Randolph poured in 21 points and 21 rebounds to lead Memphis to the win in front of a sold FedEx Grindhouse crowd.

In what the ESPN announcers called the most important game in franchise history, the Grizz played terrible basketballREAD MORE

Game 1 and 2 Recap

As the Grizzlies head to Memphis to play the Thunder in Game 3, one question stands out above all the others: which Grizzlies team, Game 1 or 2, will show up at the Grindhouse on Saturday?

Will it be the Game 1 Grizzlies, who beat the Thunder by 13 points behind dominating inside play from Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol? Will it be the Game 1 Grizzlies, who held the Thunder to just 44.9% shooting? WillREAD MORE

Yes We Did.

The night still seems surreal.  From the walk up the extraordinarily rowdy Beale Street on the way to the forum, the screaming, desperate fans, to the immense, indescribable joy that flowed throughout the arena after the game- Memphis needed this win.  The team and the city alike.

The pregame atmosphere (speaking of which, can we stop this Jerry Lawler trend? I mean he is awesome, but once was plenty) quickly dissipated when Mike Conley was called for twoREAD MORE

Game 6…

I can empathize with the entire city of Memphis, having watched game 5 in San Antonio. We were 1.7 seconds and a missed shot away from moving to the second round, only to see Gary Neal rip our hope and excitement straight form us. The question for game 6 is how will we respond? Does the heartbreak take the fire form our belly or pour diesel on it? Do Memphis fans feel dejected and give up orREAD MORE

Game 5 Preview

Tonight, the Grizzlies return to San Antonio and try to close out the opening round in 5 games. A victory would most likely set up a second-round match-up with Oklahoma City, a series which would begin in OKC early next week.

Because the game starts in 3 and a half hours, we will be short today.

Things to watch:

1) How will Memphis’ role players perform?

Obviously, role players were a huge factor in the Grizzlies’ game 4 victory.READ MORE

MLG&W: Memphis Light GRIZZ and Water

Memphis: powered by Grizz

Call Mayor Wharton, tell him we’ve solved the city’s energy crisis. Memphians have recently discovered a new energy source in the city, one that’s unparalleled in Memphis history and spreading at a lightning quick rate. Scientists have been hypothesizing for the past decade over the potential for this new energy source, but until last Saturday night, they had never seen, nor imagined, anything of this magnitude. The University of Memphis’ Center forREAD MORE

Game 4 Preview

Saturday night was good. Saturday night was right. Saturday night was Zach Randolph hitting an improbable three-pointer to essentially seal the Game 3 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Saturday night was the Grizzlies allowing the Spurs’ big three of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker to go a combined 15-37 from the field. Saturday night was the Memphis fans cheering their hardest and not letting the Spurs forget that the Memphis Grizzlies areREAD MORE

Keep Grindin’

Every single Grizzly fan in attendance at the game will remember tonight.  The raucous, growel-towel-waving, sell-out crowd.  The excitement of an early lead on the Spurs.  The despair as the Grizz seemed to be bleeding the lead.  Every ball coming up just short, right, left, long.  Hearts flat-lining as Z-Bo lofted a prayer from 25 feet.  The scramble to high five anyone, everyone within reach.  The frustration of freakin Manu getting every call he askedREAD MORE
