A Look at the Possibilities of West Seeds 2-4
Since I already have a pretty straightforward algorithm for looking at the possible seeding outcomes, I decided to look at the close race for the West seeds 2-4. Last night Denver beat Golden State to lock up the number 5 seed. This means that the three teams fighting for the 6-8 seeds is down to Memphis, New Orleans, and Portland. Who these teams play weigh heavily on the outcomes of the last games for theREAD MORE
Playoff Scenarios: Part 2
So, with New Orleans losing to the Jazz tonight, I had to update the scenarios for y’all. Now we’re down to 4 games left, which means 16 different possible scenarios. If the Grizzlies win out, they are guaranteed a 6 seed. Here are all the possible outcomes:
MEM @ PORT MEM @ CLIP PORT @ GS NO @ DAL MEM Seed PORT Seed NO Seed Portland Clippers Golden State Dallas 8 6 7 Portland Clippers Golden State New Orleans 8 6 7 Portland ClippersREAD MOREWhy The Grizz Shouldn’t Tank
With two games remaining in the regular season and a playoff berth locked up, I have been hearing a lot of talk about tanking to get the Spurs in the first round. As strategically sound as that seems, I completely disagree. There are four reasons that the Grizzlies should finish strong and win these last couple games.
1. Karma. Memphis is currently being repaid for being consistently screwed over throughout the existence of the franchise, examplesREAD MORE
Playoff Scenarios
The closer we get to the end of the season, more drama gets created. The west is totally up in the air as far as seeding goes, and it all hinges on the teams’ last two games. San Antonio has already locked up the #1 seed and it looks as though Denver will get the #5 seed, unless Portland wins their last 2 (vs Memphis and @ Golden State) and Denver loses their last 2READ MORE
Grizzlies vs. Trail Blazers
I recently posed the question to a group of friends: “If you could live in one city, and have season tickets to one sports team, who would it be?” Because the company I keep is largely obsessed with the NBA, most of the answers were pro basketball-related. “Celtics”. “Lakers”. “Knicks”. I proposed a dark horse: live in Portland and have seats at the Rose Garden. Maybe it’s because I like to be psuedo-Maroda-indie at times,READ MORE
Put Your Hard Hats On
Recently our Memphis “Grizzs” locked up a playoff spot in the Western Conference (see this video, Clinching the playoffs). No one would deny that the GrizzLife is good right now. Tony Allen aka @aa000G9 may be the most excited among citizens of Grizz nation: “aw and the reason I been pumped up lately , is because ! Playing time is up. We wining, and I’m around a great group of grinders, +im happy.”
As a lifelong grizzlifer,READ MORE
Tonight’s Gonna be a Good Night
Tonight, the Memphis Grizzlies play the Sacramento Kings. This may seem like a normal game but it’s not. With a win, the Grizzlies would secure a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
The Griz are currently in 8th place in the Western Conference, one game behind the 7th place New Orleans Hornets. The injury-depleted San Antonio Spurs have already clinched the top spot in the West and would face the Grizzlies inREAD MORE
Not Surprised
The Grizz beat the Celtics on the road last week. They lost an extremely tight game on the road at the East-leading Bulls on Friday. And they still had enough left in the tank to topple the NBA-leading Spurs last night.
Am I surprised? Not at all.
In case you didn’t notice, we went 2-1 against three of the best teams in the league. And could have easily gone 3-0. All of this without Rudy Gay. IfREAD MORE
